5 Championship goalkeepers who Derby County can sign for £0 right now

Despite winning the League One Golden Glove award last season, the 28-year-old leaves as a free agent after contract talks with the Rams broke down.

With the departure of veteran goalkeeper Scott Loach as well, it leaves Paul Warne with just Josh Vickers as the only experienced first-team goalkeeper.

Here are five Championship goalkeepers who Derby County sign for nothing, right now…

Cameron Dawson

Cameron Dawson has been tipped to leave Sheffield Wednesday ahead of his contract expiry at the end of this month, and he won’t be short of suitors.

The 28-year-old Sheffield-born goalkeeper made 129 appearances for his hometown team, keeping an impressive 47 clean sheets.

After the success that Derby County had with Wildsmith, Warne may not think twice about raiding Sheffield Wednesday for another shot-stopper.

Jordan Archer

Another experienced goalkeeper on the market this summer is Jordan Archer, who’s set to leave QPR as a free agent.

Former Spurs youngster Archer counts Millwall, Oxford United, Fulham, Motherwell, Middlesbrough, and QPR among his former clubs.

He made just four first-team appearances during three years at QPR, but kept two clean sheets in that time.

Brother of Aston Villa youngster Cameron Archer, Jordan will surely be desperate to play some regular first-team football next season.

Bartosz Bialkowski

Polish goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski is about as experienced as they come in the Championship.

The 36-year-old has 347 second tier appearances to his name and an impressive 102 clean sheets, with 14 appearances and four clean sheets for Millwall last season.

Bialkowski, formerly of Ipswich Town, Notts County, and Southampton, is known for his presence in the penalty area, and his goalkeeping ability at close range.

Neil Etheridge

Philippines international goalkeeper Neil Etheridge has been released by Birmingham City following their relegation to League One.

The former Cardiff City man, now 34, has 135 Championship appearances to his name, keeping 41 clean sheets.

In four years at Birmingham City, the 80-capped Filipino kept 19 clean sheets in 79 total appearances.

Simon Moore

Simon Moore is another experienced shot-stopper and someone who’ll be desperate to prove his worth after failing to make a Championship appearance for Coventry City last summer.

The 34-year-old has played for Brentford, Cardiff City, and Sheffield United in the past, with 229 career appearances to his name and 56 clean sheets.

His last really active season was the 2021/22 Championship campaign with Coventry City; upon their return to the second tier, Moore kept nine clean sheets in 41 league appearances.

Standing at 6ft 3ins, Moore is a real presence in the box and at set plays, which could be ideal for Derby County who’ll want to avoid conceding cheap goals next season.
