Tottenham insider thrilled by recent transfer speculation as club look to address ‘issues’

John Wenham is thrilled that Tottenham are monitoring Swansea City youth starlets, 16-year-old Harlan Perry and 17-year-old Brogan Popham.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose claims these types of signings can help the club address “homegrown issues”.

As reported by The Mirror (5 October), Manchester City and Manchester United are both pushing to sign the Swansea teenagers. Tottenham and Arsenal are also interested, although their interest isn’t thought to be as strong.

However, Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – is still happy to see the club targeting these types of players.

“These are the exact type of signings we should make,” Wenham said.

“We’ve seen it with some of the young players we’ve signed recently, such as George Feeney. We just need to be out there competing.

“Clubs are getting these players younger and younger nowadays. Therefore, with the homegrown issues impacting us, it is important to bring these players in at a young age.

“That allows us to then develop them in the way we want.”

Tottenham keen on bringing talented teenagers to North London?

It looks as though Spurs might miss out on the Swansea duo. However, the club’s interest in the pair represents their continued strategy of trying to sign top young players from all across Europe.

As Wenham mentioned, Feeney was recently brought to the club, and he has so far settled in well.

Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray have also proved to be shrewd singings, with both 18-year-olds receiving first-team opportunities this season.

And with Luka Vušković making waves around Europe ahead of his arrival at Tottenham, there is plenty to be excited about for fans and Ange Postecoglou.

Therefore, even if Spurs miss out on the Swansea duo, there is still a lot of other young talent already signed up by the club.
