Swansea boss on free agents that could face Blackburn Rovers

Luke Williams revealed that Swansea City haven’t made firm decisions on whether to sign Adam Reach or Cyrus Christie ahead of facing Blackburn Rovers.

The two experienced Championship players have been training with the Welsh club over the international break. Both have been free agents since the summer and are looking to earn contracts.

Reach was last at West Brom whilst Christie has previous with Swansea having played for them before. Williams was coy on whether either will be permanent signings before the trip to Ewood Park.

“You keep asking me about the free agent market so I thought I better do something about it,” Williams joked.

“We identified two very good quality players who are without a contract at the moment. It was a good week or so for us because there are less numbers in the training group.

“We had a good look at them. They trained today. We have had a chance to have a look at these guys and they have had a look at us as well.”

Asked if there was any prospect of signing either player, Williams replied: “Some. I think probably I can’t tell you things at the moment because we haven’t had the discussions first. As and when we do that, I will report to you.

“That was, of course, one of the reasons we decided to make this agreement for these guys to come in, because you can imagine how many players contact us about coming in to train.

“But it’s a very select group we would host in that way. They are two brilliant players, high-level players, and two very good characters as well. we don’t bring the wrong people into the group.

“It’s been great having them in because they have experience and quality and they train in the correct way. They treat as if they are contracted players and they have been a pleasure. It’s been a valuable experience for us all I think.”
