Everton captain Seamus Coleman has returned to Finch Farm for treatment after the injury he sustained for the Republic of Ireland, according to the Irish Independent.
The news outlet reported on 8 September that Udinese defender Festy Ebosele has been called up to the squad as his replacement.
Coleman suffered an apparent ankle injury while getting in a “tangle” with England star Harry Maguire during their Nations League clash.
Seamus Coleman needs to make Everton his priority
Although the Irishman may think that he can play both international and domestic football, it’s clear that his body won’t be able to hold up if he continues playing at the rate he is.
The last few seasons have been injury-riddled for the defender and it was clear that he was never going to stay fit for the entire campaign.
Nathan Patterson is not yet ready to return to first-team football so the Toffees have once again been left with just Ashley Young to play at right-back.
This isn’t the be-all and end-all but it feels like after the arrivals of players such as Orel Mangala and Armando Broja [Sky Sports, 30 August] on deadline day, Sean Dyche and Kevin Thelwell should have targeted a right-back too.
This could be an area of the squad that Everton struggles with throughout the season unless they choose to make a move for a free agent or perhaps even make a move during the January window.
That is unless Coleman retires from representing his country and solely focuses on Everton.
