Ally McCoist shares ‘crazy’ Wolves verdict amid Julen Lopetegui West Ham rant

Wolves are struggling at the bottom of the table however, Ally McCoist believes there’s a club in a worse position.

Gary O’Neil is rapidly losing the faith of loyal supporters at Molineux as things just aren’t getting better for the Old Gold.

With just one Premier League win in 20 and three points from a possible 30 this season, Wolves are running out of time to turn things around.

Only Wolves and newly-promoted Ipswich Town are yet to win in the 2024/25 campaign, telling of the struggles that O’Neil’s side have to quickly overcome.

Ally McCoist shares verdict on Wolves and West Ham

There aren’t many teams who would swap places with Wolves right now, as the Old Gold sit four points from safety.

Fans are growing increasingly concerned about O’Neil’s ability to get his squad back on track although, pundit Ally McCoist is more worried about another side.

Speaking on talkSPORT [04/11/24 08:52], the Rangers icon expressed his concern about former Wolves manager, Julen Lopetegui.

“We’re getting to the stage where they have to win games. I’m slightly more worried for West Ham [than Wolves].

“That might be a crazy thing to say because Wolves are bottom of the league, but I just see Wolves getting results. West Ham, I’m concerned about.”

Not many would agree with McCoist however, the pundit shared his reasons over why he has reservations about Lopetegui’s project at West Ham.

“I just worry about them at the back. They looked all over the place. It’s a big concern for them, whereas – and people might disagree – but Wolves have been a little more unlucky than they have.”

Wolves’ squad are not where they should be

McCoist’s words ring true to an extent, as the fact is that the Wolves squad is massively underachieving this season.

From O’Neil to Matt Hobbs, to Fosun, fans and players are being continuously let down, which is devastating as the current squad is more than capable of competing in the Premier League.

McCoist expects to see Wolves find their groove, which on paper is possible although, one win in 20 suggests otherwise.
