Chelsea has now claimed that one of their players smashed a finishing drill in practise.
According to the 5th Stand App, Mykhailo Mudryk caught the Blues’ attention as they looked to improve after their heavy defeat at the weekend.
Chelsea players are unlikely to have enjoyed training this week after Mauricio Pochettino was left fuming with what he saw from his side last Saturday.
Newcastle United soundly defeated them, with only Raheem Sterling’s stunning goal providing a bright spot in an otherwise dreadful performance.
The manager was especially disappointed in club captain Reece James, whose unnecessary red card left his players facing an impossible task.
Mudryk was one player who did not start this game, as he has found it more difficult to break into the team than he might have expected after being taken under the manager’s wing.
Mudryk on fire during practise
An injury ended a good run of form he was on, making it difficult for him to break back into the starting lineup.
The club has now claimed that he appears to be trying to change that with his performances on the training pitch.
They went on to say: ” “Nicolas Jackson and Raheem Sterling were pictured at Cobham, while Mykhailo Mudryk caught the eye in a finishing drill.”
It remains to be seen whether Pochettino decides to bring back the Ukraine international this weekend when Spurs face Brighton in the Premier League.
He has struggled to break into the team above Sterling or Cole Palmer, who has been arguably Chelsea’s best player this season.
