Preston North End are stepping up their attempts to land Hull City defender Cody Drameh, who has been linked with a move to Derby County this summer.
Reports over the weekend claimed the Rams had been knocked back over a loan deal for the Tigers’ right-back, who has two years remaining on his contract.
Rams head coach John Eustace has worked with the player before when at Birmingham City, but now the Lilywhites are claimed to be in talks over a permanent move.
The two clubs are said to be apart in their valuation of the player, who made 28 appearances in the league this season, 17 of them being starts.
Drameh can play both full-back positions, but as Hull struggled at the bottom of the table, he barely got a look for the run-in and struggled to nail down a first-team place with 16 games remaining.
The 23-year-old has also been linked with a move to France, with Reims and Toulouse both being touted as potential destinations.
Drameh’s versatility makes him a good option, but Derby are covered in the full-back positions with Kane Wilson and Ryan Nyambe competing for the right-back spot.
Craig Forsyth, who has been offered a new deal by Derby, and Callum Elder are also on the squad list as left-backs.
