The Green Bay Packers Could Accomplish Something They Have Not Done Since 1966 – Gridiron Heroics

The Green Bay Packers are looking to bounce back from their Week Four loss to the Minnesota Vikings this past Sunday.

With Jordan Love playing in his first game since their Week One loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Green Bay put up 29 points, most of which came in the second half.

The Vikings, meanwhile, put up 28 points in the first half and, despite scoring a lone field goal in final two quarters, were able to hold on for the win.

Now 2-2, Green Bay needs a win on the road against the Los Angeles Rams in order to get back over .500 and attempt to keep pace with Minnesota, who is one of just two undefeated teams remaining in the NFL.

A “get right” game in Los Angeles, however, will require the Packers to do something that they have not done since days of Bart Starr lining up under center.

The Green Bay Packers Have Not Beaten the Los Angeles Rams in California Since 1966

Sunday’s Week Five matchup between the Packers and Rams will mark the 100th time the two teams have faced off against each other. Green Bay leads the all-time series against Los Angeles 50-47-2

The Packers have won each of the past four meetings between the two teams dating back to 2021. Los Angeles, however, has history on their side going into Sunday because Green Bay has not defeated the Rams in California since 1966.

As fans may recall, the Rams played in St. Louis from 1995-2015. During those two decades, the Packers went 4-2 on the road against them.

Since December 18, 1966, the Packers are 0-13 when playing the Rams in Los Angeles. The last time the two teams played in California was October 28, 2018, a game the Rams won 29-27.

The Los Angeles Rams Will Be Without 2 Wide Receivers Against the Green Bay Packers

Last week, the Packers defense had to face the Vikings’ star pass catching duo of Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison without two of their top cornerbacks, Jaire Alexander and Carrington Valentine.

While Alexander’s and Valentine’s game statuses for Sunday are not yet determined, it has already been announced that the Rams will be down their two star wide receivers, Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp.

Nacua is currently on injured reserve with a knee injury, and Kupp will be out with an ankle ailment.

Without these pass catchers, one Vegas insider has given Green Bay slightly better odds of winning on Sunday.

Green Bay, though, will likely be without wide receiver Christian Watson and, as mentioned, Alexander and Valentine do not have a game status yet.

Additionally, Jordan Love is still recovering from his sprained MCL. Though he played against the Vikings, his mobility was limited.
