Analyst Shares ‘Monster’ Prediction for Caitlin Clark $28 Million Deal

Caitlin Clark made history in April when she signed a $28-million deal with Nike that will span eight years and include a signature shoe.

But in the months that followed, some questioned whether Nike was doing enough to promote the Indiana Fever rookie.

While Clark was toppling WNBA records and cruising to a Rookie of the Year award, Nike was relatively quiet in its efforts to promote Clark and her season, critics contended.

Barstool Sports boss Dave Portnoy doesn’t buy it. Speaking about Clark’s contract on Wednesday,

he praised Nike’s contract as a “steal” and predicted there would be big things on the horizon.

“A lot of talk around Nike and how they haven’t really done anything with Caitlin Clark yet,” Portnoy said.

“Locking up Caitlin Clark at the price they did … greatest steal of all-time.”

Portnoy noted that there have been rumors about Nike’s lack of action around the deal, with some speculating it is because of the “toxicity” that arose among her critics and some in her fan base.

He pushed aside the theory, saying he believes Nike has some big plans for the WNBA Rookie of the Year.

Her shoe is going to be a monster, anything they do is going to be a monster,” Portnoy said. “Caitlin Clark is Serena Williams,

Tiger Woods… she’s a game-changer. Men, women, everything. Nobody can [expletive] up Caitlin Clark.”
