Angel Reese Reveals Truth About Major WNBA Decision

Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese shared a key insight into her decision to jump to WNBA after a successful collegiate career.

After leading LSU to a national championship in 2023 and into the Elite Eight in 2024, Reese, who had one year of eligibility remaining, hinted that she might not be finished with college basketball, per Bleacher Report.

Due to the pandemic-interrupted 2020-21 season, Reese and other players were granted an extra year of eligibility, giving her the option to return to LSU if she wanted to.

Despite this, Reese was also considering her next steps in the WNBA. In a recent conversation on the “Unapologetically Angel” podcast with Seattle Storm guard Skylar Diggins-Smith, Reese discussed her reasoning for making the decision to go pro.

“I did everything I wanted in college… but I want to go to the next level and get better,” Reese explained.

“Like, I’m playing against some of the best of the best and I think that’s the best way for me to level up.”

Angel Reese also discussed her rookie year in the WNBA, sharing that she entered the league with confidence in her abilities, particularly her rebounding skills.

“So coming into the league, I kind of knew what I was capable of doing off,” Reese added.

“That’s how the first year goes, you just figure it out,” Diggins-Smith noted.

The 2024 WNBA rebounding leader is currently enjoying her time in the Unrivaled 3-on-3 league.

On Jan. 17, Reese played for the Rose Basketball Club in a 79-73 loss to the Vinyl Basketball Club.

Despite the defeat, the WNBA All-Star delivered an impressive performance, recording a double-double with 10 points, 14 rebounds and four assists.
