Asking Price for Potential Raiders QB Trade Target Revealed

The Las Vegas Raiders may have more options at quarterback this offseason than previously expected. The Minnesota Vikings appear set to let Sam Darnold test free agency, the New York Jets are releasing Aaron Rodgers and now Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford could be available in a trade.

Any of those three quarterbacks would be a huge upgrade over what the Raiders currently have. Stafford is likely the best of the bunch at this stage in their careers, but he’s going to require a trade. The price for a 37-year-old quarterback with an injury history and a big contract should be relatively cheap, but it sounds like the Rams are expecting a nice return.

According to Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz, Los Angeles might not be willing to take less than a first-round pick for Stafford. “Several teams, per league sources, have called L.A. about Stafford, and the belief is a first-round pick would probably be the asking price should the Rams choose to make a deal,” Schultz wrote. “Again, the Rams want him back (he also carries a $49.3 million cap hit if released) and there’s been nothing to this point that would suggest Stafford doesn’t want to play for them, but this is undoubtedly one of the biggest storylines heading into free agency next month.

Before then, the Rams and Stafford’s agent are planning to meet in Indianapolis to see if they can find common ground.”The Raiders’ 2025 first-round pick is No. 6 overall. That would be far too high of a price to pay for a quarterback like Stafford.

He would’ve been worth that five years ago, but there’s no guarantee he plays more than one or two more seasons. If the Rams aren’t willing to budge, the Raiders likely won’t even consider Stafford as an option.
