Aston Villa injury latest as Unai Emery gives Pau Torres update ahead of Man Utd

Pau Torres is a doubt to feature for Aston Villa against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Boxing Day.

 

The centre-back picked up an ankle injury in the win over Brentford earlier this month and missed Villa’s clash against Sheffield United last time out. Youri Tielemans remains sidelined as he is currently nursing a calf injury.

 

Matty Cash picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in the draw with the Blades on Friday night and will miss the trip to Old Trafford. Boubacar Kamara is also serving a three-match ban after picking up a red card in the match at Brentford.

 

Pau Torres

Injury: Ankle

 

Speaking after the draw with Sheffield United, Emery said: “”I think Pau Torres is difficult, but he is getting better, it’s not a big injury. He could be, we are going to wait.”

Youri Tielemans

Injury: Calf

 

On Tielemans, Emery said: “Youri Tielemans is out, we are thinking maybe not more than two weeks, but he is now working alone and recovering his injury in his calf.”

 

Possible return: Everton (January 14).

 

Bertrand Traore

Emery revealed Traore returned to Bodymoor Heath with an injury after the November international break. He has only made two league appearances this season.

 

Possible return: Unknown.

 

Tyrone Mings

Mings suffered a long-term knee injury during the defeat at Newcastle United on the opening weekend of the season.

 

Emi Buendia

Buendia sustained a long-term knee injury on the eve of the new season.
