Latest Aston Villa and Wolves transfer news and rumours as they prepare for the next Premier League season

Aston Villa have Champions League football to look forward to next season. They finished fourth in the Premier League table in this past campaign behind Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool.

Wolves have a big summer ahead of them as they gear up for another year under the guidance of Gary O’Neil. Here is a look at some of the latest transfer news and rumours regarding the pair…

Aston Villa-linked midfielder latest

Aston Villa will reportedly have to see off competition from La Liga duo Villarreal and Real Sociedad if they are to sign midfielder Carlos Soler from PSG in the upcoming transfer window with the Spanish clubs said to be ‘interested’ in luring him back closer to home, according to a report by French news outlet Foot Mercato.

He made the switch to France in 2022 and has since made 63 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with eight goals. The Spain international, who has 14 caps under his belt so far, is facing an uncertain future with the Ligue 1 giants though and may well head out the exit door in the near future for a new challenge somewhere else.

Soler rose up through the academy ranks at Valencia and went on to play 226 matches for his local team altogether, finding the net on 36 occasions, before PSG managed to snap him up.

Aston Villa could see him as someone to add more competition and depth to their midfield department ahead of next term which is what they need as they prepare to lock horns with some of Europe’s elite. However, they will have to see off other teams if they are to win the race for his signature.

Wolves target update

Wolves target Che Adams is back in the top flight after helping Southampton win the Championship play-off final on Sunday afternoon against Leeds United at Wembley. Forward Adam Armstrong scored the only goal of the game in the first-half in London to secure the Saints’ return from the Football League at the first time of asking under Russell Martin.

O’Neil’s side are said to be in ‘talks’ with the former Sheffield United and Birmingham City attacker ahead of a possible switch, as reported by Football Transfers earlier this month. It remains to be seen whether he will be leaving his current club when his contract expires at the end of next month.

Adams is yet to put pen-to-paper on an extension with Southampton meaning he is due to become a free agent as things stand. He has a big decision to make on what to do next and he will be weighing up his options.

The Scotland forward would give Wolves another option to pick from up front if they were to lure him to the Midlands. He joined the Saints back in 2019 and has since been a decent servant to the Hampshire outfit.

He has found the net on 49 occasions in 191 outings and has stayed with them over the past 12 months despite their relegation.
