The Philadelphia Eagles announced bleak news for the offense in Week 18 against the New York Giants.

The update doesn’t bode well for the Eagles playoff game next week.

The Eagles have suffered a late-season collapse, losing four of their previous five games.

They will need to beat the Giants on Sunday and hope for the Dallas Cowboys to lose to the Washington Commanders in order for the Eagles to win the NFC East.

They’ll be short one wide receiver.

According to a statement by the Eagles, star wide receiver DeVonta Smith has been ruled out against the Giants due to an ankle injury.

Smith has missed all three Eagles practices this week.

Head coach Nick Sirianni said he expected Smith to be available to play the Giants this week after a photo appeared of the wide receiver leaving the stadium in Week 17 in crutches and a walking boot.

Smith said he was “feeling good” this week.

The optimistic scenario didn’t play out this week, and it could bite the Eagles in the playoffs. It’s concerning Smith did not practice at all this week.

If Smith can play, his injury could limit his abilities in the Wild Card round. The Eagles don’t need one of their top targets battered in the playoffs.

The Eagles must force the ball to A.J. Brown this week. Brown wants the touches, and he’s the Eagles best target on the Eagles to help get a win over the Giants.

The Eagles might have a different story to tell on Smith next week.
