With some supporters worried that McGregor may have suffered an injury setback after being on the receiving end of a tough tackle during the game, and with the Celtic captain having previously missed a number of games due to an Achilles/calf injury, Rodgers updated fans on the situation.
He said: [Glasgow World], “Yeah he’s fine. He continued so hopefully he keeps building his fitness right the way through and then he does a good job for Scotland.”
Thankfully, McGregor appears to be okay, and with his influence on the side vital, the Scottish midfielder looks set to continue to build up his fitness.
However, at times, it will seem like a horror show for some supporters to watch when he is on the receiving end of poorly timed tackles, as seen against Dundee.
McGregor does not appear to be back to his sparkling best just yet, but that undoubtedly says more about the injury he suffered against Dundee in the reverse fixture in February than his dedication to Celtic.
With Achilles and calf injuries, two very tough injuries to return from in a matter of months like McGregor has.
Arguably, the Scottish midfielder’s minutes could be managed more carefully, as at times he has looked off the pace.
This is nothing against him, but more to do with Rodgers looking to get him back into the starting 11 as soon as possible.
