Celtic name their price for Luis Palma amid rising interest in Honduras international

Luis Palma’s Celtic future is up in the air at the moment and suitors have made their interest known in the Honduran international over the last few weeks.

Unfortunately, the former Aris man has been on the periphery at Parkhead this term, making just nine appearances across all competitions, culminating in 219 minutes of action.

According to reports last week, Genoa are the latest club to show interest in Celtic’s Luis Palma as Patrick Vieira looks to bolster the options at his disposal across the front four.

Alongside the Serie A outfit, Olympiacos, Atlanta Utd and Orlando City also want the Honduran star as speculation over his next move begins to accelerate.

Brendan Rodgers is in the market for reinforcements and knows outgoings may be necessary to hasten the process. Celtic have now set out their stall regarding the fee they would like to recoup for Palma.

Celtic make their stance on Luis Palma known

According to El Heraldo, Celtic want a fee in the region of €4 million (£3.3 million) for Palma as clubs continue to come forward in the search for his signature.

The outlet claim the Bhoys haven’t ruled out keeping the 24-year-old on for the second half of the season due to the volume of matches they have to cope with during a strict fixture schedule.

Scoring ten times and laying on a further ten assists in 45 appearances, the 2023 summer signing has illustrated his creative capabilities while on the books at Parkhead.

However, a lack of synchronisation with Rodgers’ evolving style of play has complicated his chances of entering Rodgers’ starting line-up on a regular basis.

Celtic winger search may foil Luis Palma’s path to being a regular

It doesn’t feel likely that Palma will be utilised as more than an occasional squad option should he stay, especially when factoring Celtic’s desire to sign two wingers this month.

Nicolas Kuhn and Daizen Maeda are in excellent form, while Hyunjun Yang has inherited the bulk of minutes distributed to fringe wingers off the bench recently following James Forrest’s injury.

Traditionally, the January transfer window is a difficult one to do business, but it feels as if Palma’s time at Celtic is coming to an end.
