CLUB BRUGGE IN ADVANCED TALKS TO SIGN CHRISTOS TZOLIS

Fortuna Düsseldorf exercised their €3.5m purchase option to sign Christos Tzolis (22) on a permanent basis from Norwich City, but the Greece international is now set for Club Brugge.

As reported by Nieuwsblad, Club Brugge are in advanced negotiations to sign Tzolis for a reported €6m, with the Greek attacker set to undergo a medical as early as Tuesday.

Tzolis’ €6m exit clause is valid until July 15, thereafter Fortuna Düsseldorf would be free to negotiate a significant transfer fee after he scored 22 goals in the 2. Bundesliga last season, while creating seven.

According to Kicker, Bundesliga side Union Berlin also showed interest in signing Tzolis, who has a preference of playing in a top European league, as opposed to spending another season in the 2. Bundesliga.

The rise of Christos Tzolis

Tzolis joined Norwich City from PAOK in August 21 for €11m, but struggled with just three goals and two assists in 30 games across all competitions under Daniel Farke, Dean Smith and David Wagner.

With subsequent loans to FC Twente, where he again failed to impress, and Fortuna Düsseldorf, it was in Germany that the 22-year-old found his feet which has seen his market value rise to €10m, per Transfermarkt, his highest value since May 2021 (€12m), when he was at PAOK.
