Club set for transfer meeting with Southampton – Not at all convinced over deal, player still to prove himself

This Wednesday, Southampton loanee Carlos Alcaraz shared a quite generic message on Instagram, talking about training hard and achieving his dreams.

That was enough to the Italian media to return to speaking about his future, as he’s having a loan at Juventus and it’s unclear where he’ll be next season.

Il Bianconero shares a story saying that even though the Old Lady will not trigger the €50m option to buy him from Southampton, which they were never expected to do so, there are still other possibilities on the table.

It’s said that while Alcaraz still needs to prove himself at Juventus, the Bianconeri could try to extend his loan from the Saints.

The Old Lady are expected to meet Southampton and discuss that possibility, and for now there’s no information on what the St. Mary’s side will say about it all.

Since joining Juventus in January, Alcaraz has made nine appearances, with no goals and just one assist. That makes it obvious that the Italian side will not spend a huge amount of cash on him.

There’s even now doubt whether they tried for a new loan, with it made clear the player needs to show something between now and the end of the season to convince Juventus he deserves to wear black and white next season.

For Southampton, the current possibilities look like them either being offered the chance to loan him out again or Alcaraz being returned entirely.
