Warner Bros. Discovery held its upfronts this week. As part of that, Bleacher Report announced a very interesting move: Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons is B/R Gridiron’s new president.

WBD announced Parsons’ new title in a release on Tuesday.

“NFL powerhouse and Dallas Cowboys defensive star Micah Parsons has reached a multi-year extension with Bleacher Report that will include his imprint on a variety of projects that span sports and entertainment,” the release read.

According to the release, Parsons’ YouTube show, The Edge, will continue on B/R Gridiron as part of the deal.

Working with Bleacher Report on The Edge has given me the desire to want to share my view of the game even more,” said Parsons. “Being able to create something dynamic for fans alongside a content team like B/R Gridiron, is a chance for me to flex different muscles than the ones I’m using each week on the field, plus it will just be fun.”

This is a fascinating move for many reasons, but chief among them is that Parsons is still an active NFL player. He’s clearly shown a desire to be involved in some media, and his YouTube show proves exactly that. Plenty of athletes have been able to handle having podcasts and keep their playing careers going. You don’t have to look very far to see the amount of active athletes with shows nowadays.

President of an entire content genre? Now, that’s going to be interesting to see how that’s juggled. But if Parsons can commit to this, and if the content ends up being great, hats off to him and B/R for making this move.

The former Penn State star has previously been outspoken about media coverage on his show, and that outspokenness has been met with criticism. So, now with a new and important title, how things are handled going forward will be intriguing.
