Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl was asked about any plans for the January transfer window during his Thursday presser.
Danny Rohl spoke to the press on Thursday, ahead of Sheffield Wednesday’s Championship clash against Burnley this weekend.
Burnley sit in 3rd place of the Championship table right now compared to the Owls who sit in 15th.
Ahead of the clash on Saturday, EFL pundit Sam Parkin has predicted a 2-2 draw at Hillsborough.
And speaking to the press on Thursday, Rohl shared the latest Sheffield Wednesday team news ahead of the weekend.
He says that Di’Shon Bernard has trained after sustaining an injury during the break. But Bernard could still miss out along with Michael Ihiekwe.
Elsewhere, Rohl was asked about the January transfer window, and any early plans he has in place at Wednesday.
Danny Rohl makes loan signings claim at Sheffield Wednesday
Last January, Rohl used the transfer market to great effect, signing four players on loan, with three of them (James Beadle, Ike Ugbo, and Ian Poveda) playing huge roles in the club’s route to safety.
And speaking to the press on Thursday, Rohl suggested that loan signings could once again be at the fore of his thinking ahead of January.
Rohl also revealed that he’s set for talks with owner Dejphon Chansiri and head of recruitment Kevin Beadell.
Rohl said: “I’ll have a good conversation with our chairman, with Kevin. It goes in the right direction and January you know… what is possible, what is not possible in January, but we will try.
“We will look what’s on the market. Last year we did well with good loans. It could be maybe, a way in January to get an immediate impact.
“But I think we are, at the moment, too far away to speak about January.”
Will Sheffield Wednesday be able to spend in January?
Sheffield Wednesday are coming off the back of one of their most expensive summer transfer windows in several years.
Chansiri spent £2.5million on Ike Ugbo, with the signings of Yan Valery and Olaf Kobacki taking the club’s summer expenditure beyond £3million.
So whether or not the club has anything to spend in January remains to be seen. But Chansiri will know that this project undertaken by Rohl is a costly one, and that the end goal of reaching the Premier League is extremely lucrative.
Loan signings may be the focus once again in January, with the summer then seeing some more spending.
