Jason Cundy and Jamie O’Hara to one Everton fan who wants to replace Sean Dyche with David Moyes.
The Toffees suffered a disappointing 3-0 opening day defeat against Brighton which has been met with criticism of the manager from supporters.
Speaking live on talkSPORT on 17 August one fan has suggested that former Everton boss Moyes should return to Goodison Park.
He stated: “You know I’d bring Moyes back back, steady the ship. Look he did a great job at West Ham and he set them up really well.”
Cundy wasn’t against the idea, replying: “Everton wouldn’t mind being West Ham, would they? Everton would take being West Ham right now. “
O’Hara was sceptical, he said: “If you bring in Moyes and get rid of Dyche it feels like a like-for-like doesn’t it?”
Everton fan wants David Moyes to replace Sean Dyche
It is certainly a knee-jerk reaction to suggest that Dyche needs to go after just one game in the Premier League.
There is no getting away from the fact that the defeat to Brighton was disappointing after going into the season with expectations of a positive campaign.
The result was frustrating which was added to by the fact that Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s penalty win was ruled out by VAR.
This feeling only got worse when Ashley Young was sent off for hauling down Kaoru Mitoma as the last line of defence.
With all these factors in one game, there is no real reason to call for Dyche’s head this early into the season.
It has to be said that the Toffees could go further wrong than bringing back Moyes after an overly positive spell with West Ham.
Winning the Conference League with the Hammers was a historic moment and one that Everton fans can only dream of.
