David Strelec & three more deals Celtic can complete on January transfer deadline day

Celtic have just hours to finalize their January transfer window business as Brendan Rodgers and his recruitment team eye late deals.

The Hoops are in a fantastic spot and are on course to defend their Scottish Premiership crown and perhaps another domestic treble.

But they are eager not to rest on their laurels, and this month, the Celts have been reshaping their squad from a position of strength.

Jota is the only signing made thus far as he sensationally returned to Celtic Park in an £8 million deal from Stade Rennais.

Heartbreakingly, striker Kyogo went in the other direction as his glorious three-and-a-half-year spell with Celtic came to a £10 million end.

The Bhoys have also sanctioned a number of high-profile loan exits – a couple being Stephen Welsh to KV Mechelen and Luis Palma to Olympiacos, among others.

So what could happen at Parkhead on transfer deadline day? 67 Hail Hail take a look at three players who could make their moves to Celtic today.

David Strelec seals big-money Celtic move

It was reported at the start of the weekend that Slovan Bratislava striker David Strelec is on Celtic’s transfer shortlist.

But any sort of deal could be pricey. Celtic may need to stump up £8 million for the 23-year-old who played against the Bhoys in the Champions League this season.

The Hoops need a replacement for the departed Kyogo, and the Slovakian Strelec could be that man.

However, Middlesbrough are also said to be chasing his signature, so a deadline-day bidding war could be upon us.

Kelechi Iheanacho joins Celtic on loan

67 Hail Hail had already confirmed that Celtic were interested in securing the loan capture of Kelechi Iheanacho from Sevilla.

The Nigerian is a familiar face to Brendan Rodgers, having shone under the Northern Irishman at Leicester City in the Premier League.

Iheanacho spent seven years with the Foxes—scoring 61 goals and assisting 34—before moving to Spanish outfit Sevilla last year.

The Hoops were exploring a loan to replace the departed Kyogo, with potentially the option to buy the 28-year-old forward in the summer.

However, Sky Sports have reported that Middlesbrough are now the frontrunners to sign Iheanacho, and initial Celtic talks have slowed down.

The deal could still happen, but it seems like a difficult one to sanction now.

Celtic get Sondre Ørjasæter deal over the line

The Hoops could yet finalize the signing of 21-year-old winger Sondre Ørjasæter from Sarpsborg 08 before the deadline.

67 Hail Hail revealed that Celtic submitted an opening offer for Ørjasæter last week, but then told you that £4.4m bid was rejected.

The U21 starlet is also being tracked by Ligue 1 side Lille, and we understand they also lodged a bid to Sarpsborg 08.

The Norwegian club are holding out for a fee closer to £7m, but are reluctant to sell this window regardless of the fee.

Tyrell Malacia replaces Alex Valle at Celtic

Celtic need another senior left-back for the rest of the season to provide competition for Greg Taylor, who is out of contract in the summer.

Kieran Tierney will rejoin Celtic at the end of the campaign after penning a pre-contract arrangement but won’t join on loan from Arsenal now.

Manchester United are reportedly aiming to send Tyrell Malacia out on loan, and the Hoops do indeed hold an interest in the Dutchman.

Portuguese giants Benfica tried to steal a march on their competitors, but Fabrizio Romano has reported that talks between Benfica and United regarding Malacia broke down.

Does that open the door for Celtic today?
