Portsmouth will see Joe Rafferty depart this summer and according to reporter Alan Nixon, he is poised to join Rotherham United.

Portsmouth confirmed a number of departures following the conclusion of their title-winning League One campaign.

Some were more expected than others, with the departures of long-serving fan favourite Sean Raggett and fellow influential defender Joe Rafferty catching the eye as Pompey gear up for Championship football.

However, it looks as though the latter won’t be without a club for long.

According to a Patreon report from journalist Alan Nixon, the departing Portsmouth right-back is set to be snapped up by Steve Evans’ Rotherham United.

The Millers are set to sign Rafferty on a free transfer with the 30-year-old ready to accept an offer.

It comes after the former Preston North End and Rochdale man managed four assists in 42 games for John Mousinho’s side. In the absence of Zak Swanson through injury, Rafferty became Pompey’s go-to option on the right-hand side of defence and proved a reliable figure.
