Derby County are open to another loan for Darren Robinson despite his loan move from Hartlepool being cut short.
Robinson returned to the Rams last month after his spell did not work out as everbody hoped. The Northern Ireland under-21 international made five appearances for Pools who sacked manager Darren Sarll following a disappointing start to the campaign.
Robinson’s hopes of becoming a first-team regular with the National League were hampered by international call-ups but Derby have not ruled out another loan move.
Derby head coach Paul Warne said while the move did not perhaps give him the amount of games he wanted, it did serve a purpose in other areas.
“The loan did him well in some ways,” he said. “It’s an eye-opener in that you leave here and become someone’s first-choice midfielder. I mean that in a nice way. Loans don’t just help you as a player but personally.
“I would be open to him going out on loan again. I don’t want him to just play 21s. We are trying to help in many aspects as we could. A loan is definitely something we would look at.”
Young striker Tony Weston has also been on loan at Boston United, but the academy striker is currently nursing a broken metatarsal. But Warne is unsure whether he will return to the National League when fit.
“I don’t think Tony is far away,” he said. “I don’t know whether he is going to re-engage on that loan or stay.”
