Derby County sent transfer message as fresh link emerges amid contract claim

Latest Derby County news from DerbyshireLive as Rams reported to be in pursuit of a Ukrainian international

Derby County have been linked with a move for Plymouth defender Maksym Talovierov, according to reports in both Turkey and Ukraine.

Wrexham and Trabzonspor are also said to be interested in the centre-back, who is tipped to leave the club this summer after Argyle’s relegation.

It is claimed Talovierov has a clause in his contract that allows him to depart the club in the event of Argyle’s relegation.

The centre-back caught the eye earlier in the season with an outstanding performance against Liverpool in the FA Cup, and he followed that up with a goal against Manchester City in the next round.

Talovierov missed Argyle’s league run in through injury, but that has not stopped speculation about his future, and now it is claimed the Rams are in the hunt for his signature.

Derby are expected to have a busy summer with the squad primed for an overhaul as John Eustace prepares to oversee his first full transfer window.

Fans on DerbyshireLive have been having their say on links to Talovierov. Here’s what some of them have had to say…

MK Ram: “If we re-sign Clarke and Forsyth, and potentially Phillips… alongside Langas, Nelson, and potentially Nyambe and Rooney, then centre-back is the one position we least need to strengthen. I don’t see anything in this link. And I expect we’ll be linked with lots of players we have zero interest in.

DerbyBornDerbybred: “It’s not guaranteed we will get Phillips back, so it’s good we are looking. Phillips would be the number one choice, in my humble opinion, but there will be many other sides trying to sign him too.”

RisleyRam: “I remember watching him against Liverpool and City. He’s a very good defender. Would be a very good signing but I would imagine there will be a lot of teams in for him.”

Beaufort1: “There is absolutely no guarantee that Clarke or Phillips will sign contracts at Derby, so as things stand we certainly do need a centre-half as much as we need a striker. If both could be persuaded to stay that would change things, but at the moment that isn’t the case.”

ThirskRam: “Assuming a limited budget and we can keep Philips and Clarke, we also hopefully have Nelson, Nyambe, Elder, Rooney and Fozzy fit for next season, so the money must be spent on two forwards and a wide player or two.”
