Derby County suspension latest as two at risk but one return for Paul Warne after the international break

Derby County are at the third and final international break of the calendar year as they look to take stock of their season so far.

The Rams sit in mid-table, though the Championship table is extremely tight and any chance at looking moving up the rankings can also put teams quickly down them too.

After a run of mixed results, Paul Warne will be looking to pick his team up again for a busy end to November and a difficult December.

Derby County suspension concerns

Derby have already seen one player suspended after picking up five yellow cards, with Eiran Cashin hitting that threshold against Coventry City.

That saw the centre-back miss out on the tie against Plymouth Argyle, though he is fortunately back after the international break.

Warne will be able to pick the centre-back against Preston North End, coming as a huge boost, though there are other suspension worries.

Ebou Adams is the closest to picking up a one-match ban as he recently picked up a fourth caution in the Championship.

The energy brought by the Gambian international has been crucial so far this season and any absence would be a concern.

After him, Callum Elder is the next closest as the left-back has three yellow cards to his name in the matches he has featured.

Whether he will be back from injury over the international break remains to be seen though, following a muscular injury against Coventry.

When do yellow cards suspensions reset in the Championship?

Fortunately for Derby, there are only a few more games for their cautioned players to get through if they are to avoid suspension.

The Championship rules state that the five yellow card suspension limit resets after game 19, which means just four more games to get through.

For Adams, that is a bit of a tougher tightrope, but he may be able to squeeze through without landing that fifth caution.

Elder may have a bit more success as he has a two-card buffer, while the remainder of the squad merely must avoid consecutive warnings.

It means the side must get through those games to ensure they are available without any suspension ahead.
