Tottenham Hotspur have completed a transfer! Maybe not the one we’d hope, but still an important one nonetheless:
Various media outlets (including us!) and Ange Postecoglou himself have mentioned looking for a loan for Big Willy Lanks for the latter half of the Premier League season, and Spurs have found one: a Championship stint with West Bromwich Albion.
West Brom are solidly in the playoffs race, but their run is arguably not built on scoring prowess from their strikers. Largely playing a two striker system, or with a target man and a second attacker playing just off him, their two main options in attack recently have been Michael Johnston (2 goals) and Grady Diangana (4 goals)—neither out and out strikers, with probable first choices Josh Maja and Daryl Dike out with long-term injuries.
This is a golden opportunity for Lankshear. West Brom are clearly in need of a proper center forward, and Lankshear can really cement a starting position at a club pushing for bigger and better things. His playing time was also likely to dwindle at Spurs in the remainder of the season, with Spurs linked with forward reinforcements, Richarlison back fit (touch wood), and Dane Scarlett’s Europa League appearance against Elfsborg, meaning he can’t head out on a second loan.
Good luck to Will! Here’s hoping this loan will propel him on to the next step in his career—hopefully with Spurs!
