Everton have joined the transfer race to sign Manchester City midfielder Alex Robertson this summer, according to FTBL.

The Australian source reported [18 June] that the 21-year-old has plenty of interested teams following his situation, with the Toffees and Portsmouth set to battle for his signature.

It is understood that his future is likely to be decided in the coming weeks, having been a regular figure in training with City but never making a senior debut under Pep Guardiola.

Everton to battle for Alex Robertson signing this summer

The 21-year-old midfielder spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan with Pompey, playing 27 matches as the club won promotion to the Championship as League One winners.

However, his impressive spell, having become a favourite at Fratton Park, came to an abrupt end when he suffered an injury, which has seen him sidelined since New Year’s Day.

There are no doubts over his talents on the pitch, having already earned two caps for the Australia national team after coming through England’s youth ranks.

Robertson has yet to make his senior debut at the Etihad Stadium, which could be what seals his exit from the Premier League champions this summer, and the Toffees are ready to pounce on the opportunity.

Sean Dyche’s midfield is a cause for concern heading into the 2024/25 campaign, especially if Amadou Onana is to leave Goodison Park in the transfer window.
