A player who has been linked with an exit from Wolves has been spotted back at Compton Park among other returning players.

A number of stars have now returned to the club following their summer breaks, with Gary O’Neil ready to get to work ahead of 2024/25.

Those players have actually now already flown out to Marbella ready for some warm weather pre-season training, but they reported to Compton first.

The likes of Pedro NetoJose Sa and Nelson Semedo have not yet returned following their exploits for Portugal at Euro 2024. Joao Gomes, who has been on Copa America duty with Brazil, has also not been seen.

But one man who is back with the squad is forgotten winger Chiquinho.

On Monday, Wolves released footage of several players reporting back to Compton Park after their summer holidays.

New signing Rodrigo Gomes was there, and was filmed meeting the likes of Pablo Sarabia and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde.

Also spotted were young players who went out on loan last season Luke Cundle and Joe Hodge.

It was particularly interesting to see that Chiquinho was among the returning crop of players (

At 2:45 of Wolves’ new video, Chiquinho can be seen embracing Matheus Cunha. Their words to each other are not translated.

This appearance comes after there were reports recently that Chiquinho was wanted by Portuguese club Braga. Sporting CP have also been credited with an interest.

O’Neil ready to take a look at Chiquinho

It had been suggested that O’Neil could be wanting to look at Chiquinho in pre-season this summer, and from this, it does look like he’s ready to cast his eye over the 24-year-old.

Quite possibly, if O’Neil didn’t have plans to use him, then he might not have returned and been seen in this video, given the interest from Braga.

That said, just because Chiquinho has returned for pre-season does not mean that he won’t eventually be sold or loaned.

It is good that he will get the chance to show O’Neil what he is about, because he looked electric at times when Bruno Lage gave him some chances at the end of the 2021/22 season.

It would be amazing if he could get back to those pre-injury levels.
