Caitlin Clark has turned the Indiana Fever around. That’s not an overreaction: Clark has been the catalyst for the team’s evolution on and off the court. The Iowa product has firmly planted her spot as the focal point of the team. After making the playoffs in 2024, the Fever are planning to build around Clark next season as well. Fever president Kelly Krauskopf laid out the blueprint for their success next season.
Krauskopf pointed out the similarities between Clark and Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton. The Fever president then said that they’re looking to play more like the Pacers for next season. “We want to play almost identical to the way the Pacers are playing,” Krauskopf said. “Or maybe they want to play like we’re playing. But either way, it’s finding those right fits around a point guard like her is going to make us dangerous… You’re looking for the right types of players that can play that style around her.”

The Pacers last season built themselves as one of the fastest offenses in the league. Indiana pushed the pace relentlessly, having the second-fastest pace in the league last season. With Haliburton and Pascal Siakam, Indy excelled in transition.

With Clark and Kelsey Mitchell, they have two guards who love pushing the ball down the court. Clark’s talent as a playmaker also shines in transition. Building behind Clark is the most sensible option for the Fever, especially after the success they saw this season. Clark won Rookie of the Year averaging 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 8.4 assists per game. Her efforts got the Fever to return to the playoffs.
Despite being eliminated early in the playoffs, the Fever are in good hands with Clark. Now, the only question is how this team will build around their new young star.
