Former Charlton Athletic striker Igor Vetokele has retired.

The frontman, now 33, signed for the Addicks from Copenhagen in 2014 and had five years on their books.

Vetokele scored 18 goals in 86 appearances. He was also loaned out to Zulte Waregem and Sint-Truiden during his stay in SE7.

Vetokele was released by Charlton in the summer of 2019.

“This isn’t a sad goodbye—it’s a thank you to football,” he posted on his Instagram.

“It all started with a ball on the streets, and somehow, it took me all over Europe.

“A lifetime of memories. Today, I officially retire from football — not with regret, but with pride.

“Every step, every injury, every goal made me who I am, and now it’s time to listen to my body and admit that it’s the right decision.

“Thank you to every supporter, teammate, coach, and club along the way, but especially thank you to my wife for all the support through all these years.
