Former Manchester City defender has just agreed to join Nottingham Forest after bid submitted

Nottingham Forest are looking to bolster their squad ahead of a European tour next season.

After qualifying for the UEFA Conference League, there is a pressing need for Nottingham Forest to add depth across the pitch.

With that said, Nuno Espirito Santo is looking to sign two wingers; however, Forest has failed in their bid to sign Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula.

Espírito Santo may turn to Baris Alper Yılmaz after his prolific season for Galatasaray, netting 14 goals while laying on six assists.

Now, there is a fresh rumor emerging from the continent, and it appears a deal is actually really close.

Pablo Maffeo has agreed to join Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest are in the market for a full-back after Alex Moreno and Harry Toffolo’s departures.

And now, according to El Chiringuito TV, the Tricky Trees are showing a significant interest in RCD Mallorca right-back Pablo Maffeo.

In fact, Forest have already submitted a £5.1m bid for Maffeo, who has agreed to personal terms to make a switch to the City Ground.

It’s understood the 28-year-old has accepted a long-term contract, so if Mallorca are willing to sanction his sale, a deal should be completed imminently.

Maffeo has played under Pep Guardiola

Maffeo came through Manchester City’s youth ranks and has actually played for the first team on three occasions.

Pep Guardiola handed Maffeo his debut in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers against Steaua Bucharest back in August 2016.

But the Spaniard was sold on a permanent transfer two years later, as Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart paid a club record £8.8m for his signature.

The defender has found a home in Mallorca over the last four seasons and has evidently impressed enough to earn a move back to the Premier League.
