Former Washington Commanders owner Daniel Snyder is wading into new waters after leaving his football duties. Snyder reportedly is unhappy with the way Donald Trump is portrayed in ‘The Apprentice‘, a new movie that will be released at Cannes on Monday night.

Per Tatiana Siegel with Variety, Snyder helped to fund the movie by giving money to Kinematics. While Synder thought the film would make Trump look good, the cut made the former Commanders’ owner “furious.” Kinematics’ lawyers tried to stop the release of that cut Synder watched.

In earlier versions of the screenplay, “The Apprentice” featured a scene where Trump rapes Ivana. One insider, familiar with the scene that is in the current cut, described it as “violent” and “uncomfortable” and follows a fight between the couple. (In a 1989 divorce deposition, Ivana accused Trump of raping her. But Ivana — who died in 2022 — later refuted these claims in 2015, saying, “The story is totally without merit. Donald and I are the best of friends and together have raised three children that we love and are very proud of.”

The filmmakers’ decision to show a scene where a former alleged victim recanted their story is interesting. However, Snyder’s involvement in the movie because of the fight between Donald and Ivana is also interesting.

Sexual harassment and the toxic culture in the Washington Commanders workplace were the primary reasons Snyder sold his prized football team.
