After a historic season in the WNBA, Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark was awarded the Rookie of the Year award. Less than 24 hours after Clark’s ROTY victory was announced, the Fever made a change to its front office. Indiana has named Amber Cox the Chief Operating Officer and General Manager, per Khristina Williams.
The report reveals that Cox will join the organization on Oct. 28, and the Fever’s current general manager, Linn Dunn, will transition into a role as a Senior Advisor. Dunn has served as the Fever’s general manager since 2022. She’s had a coaching staff or front office role in the WNBA and colleague level since 1970, previously holding roles with the Kentucky Wildcats, Seattle Storm and Portland Power.
Cox comes into the scene after spending time with the Dallas Wings. According to Cox’s LinkedIn, she was the Chief Operating Officer in Dallas since June 2022. Prior to her stop with the Wings, she was the Chief Operating Officer at the Panther City Lacrosse Club and KC Current.
Cox also has a lengthy history in the WNBA, serving as the President and Chief Operating Officer of the Phoenix Mercury from 2005-13 and Vice President of the Connecticut Sun from 2016-21.
The Fever have a bright future ahead of them, and they seem to be putting themselves in the best position to succeed. Indiana played through a Big 3 of Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell and Clark during the 2024 season. Their All-Star trio led the franchise to its first playoff trip since 2016, garnering a 20-20 record as the No. 6 seed in the WNBA standings.
