Italian clubs enter race for £80k-a-week Wolves star who’s set to leave Molineux

Fabio Silva is set to leave Wolves next month following a lack of game time – and two Italian clubs have now joined the hunt for the young striker.

Earlier this week it was reported that German glub SC Freiburg were showing interest in the player again, having been keen in the summer.

It was then suggested that other Bundesliga clubs such as Borussia Monchengladbach, Eintracht Frankfurt, Union Berlin and Wolfsburg were all showing interest.

Interest from Italy was mentioned, and now two clubs have been named…

Fabio Silva is a wanted man as two Italian clubs now join the hunt

Gianluca Di Marzio reported on Silva yesterday, and offered the names of two Italian clubs who are looking at trying to sign Silva next month.

They are Monza and Genoa. It is stated that Silva likes both of these clubs, and that Wolves are open to the possibility of loaning him out.

It remains to be seen on what kind of basis Silva will leave Wolves, though. You would imagine the club would not be opposed to selling the player should the right offer come in.

Last term, he enjoyed two productive loan spells with Anderlecht and PSV Eindhoven, scoring 16 goals in total.

It is no surprise we are now getting more reports about Silva and his potential exit next month.

It was reported recently that Gary O’Neil is keen to sign a new striker, which would be something that would further harm Silva’s starting prospects at Molineux further.

It is hard to see how Silva stays at Wolves beyond January, given his involvement recently.

It seems that O’Neil just doesn’t trust him, with Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-chan heavily involved in recent weeks, and Sasa Kalajdzic being the go-to substitute.

Journalist Liam Keen suggested on the latest E&S podcast that Wolves and O’Neil were almost ‘protecting’ him by not bringing him on in recent games, ahead of a potential move.

He also believes Silva’s career at Molineux may well be finished.
