James Tarkowski and Ben Godfrey slammed by TNT Sports pundit v Manchester United

Everton pair James Tarkowski and Ben Godfrey have been slammed by Owen Hargreaves after their defeat to Manchester United.

The TNT Sports pundit blasted the duo after they both gave away penalties in the match at Old Trafford on Saturday (9 March).

Both Toffees players fouled Red Devils ace Alejandro Garnacho, with Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford scoring from the spot to secure a 2-0 win for the hosts.

“They’re ridiculous challenges,” said Hargreaves, as per the official Premier League website. “I say to my son’s team ‘Stay on your feet.’ They’re terrible challenges and Sean Dyche will be fuming.”

Tarkowski and Godfrey certainly cannot take all of the blame for the defeat in Manchester, but the pair will be disappointed to have both given away spot-kicks at Old Trafford.

That said, their teammates didn’t exactly step up, with the Everton forwards in particular set for a few harsh words from Sean Dyche given their failures to find the back of the net.

The home side were not at their best, but Erik ten Hag will be delighted with the three points, which keeps them in the running for the Champions League places.

The Toffees meanwhile could have really done with at least a point on the road, with the Merseyside outfit still heavily involved in a Premier League relegation battle.

Due to FA Cup and international action, Dyche’s side now must wait until the very end of the month for a chance to bounce back, with the Toffees travelling to the south coast to take on Bournemouth on 30 March.
