Atletico Madrid are ‘emerging as favourites’ to sign Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood ahead of this summer’s transfer window.
The report comes from HITC and it suggests Atletico are set to lead the chase for the 22-year-old forward following a successful loan spell at Getafe this season.
Borussia Dortmund have been linked with a summer move for Greenwood, although a report earlier today stressed that he was not on the Bundesliga’s transfer target list.
It doesn’t look like Greenwood has a future at Old Trafford, with the club willing to let him go back out on loan unless a permanent offer is made.
Greenwood scored 10 goals across all competitions during his temporary loan at Getafe, so he has already proven himself in La Liga. Now only time will tell if Atletico Madrid are going to make a formal offer for his signature.
Stretty News verdict
Our preference would be for United to sell Greenwood this summer, but talk of a potential loan deal suggests clubs around Europe are more willing to make such an approach.
Hopefully, Dortmund can put their money where their mouth is and sign Jadon Sancho on a permanent deal at the very least.
