Leicester City have emerged as a potential suitor for the services of Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall. The centre-back is surplus to requirements at the City Ground and could be on the move.

The 26-year-old is keen to play regular football and he’s not been featuring for Forest. Worrall’s last outing for the Reds came against Luton when he was at fault for both of their goals in a 2-2 draw.

Last week it was claimed that Worrall had been banished from first-team training lately. Along with Scott McKenna, he’s now set to depart the club during the January transfer window.

Leicester City want Forest captain Worrall

This news comes courtesy of The Daily Mail. They claim that Leicester want to rival Middlesbrough for the signature of Worrall as he prepares to exit Forest next month.

Worrall has been at Forest for several years, coming through the academy ranks at the City Ground. He was instrumental as the club won promotion to the Premier League and helped them stay in the league last season.

The player has made 223 appearances for the Reds, scoring five goals. As a boyhood Forest supporter, it will likely hurt him that he’s been cast aside and bridges appear to have been burnt.

Offloading Worrall makes perfect sense

Despite some pretty useful transfer business made by Forest, players do need to be offloaded.

The squad is still on the large side and as a result, letting Worrall leave makes sense.

It’s perhaps telling that Worrall doesn’t have Premier League interest for his services.

Leicester and Boro will both hope to be in the top flight next season but for now, they remain in the Championship.

Worrall doesn’t appear to have done anything in the background to have been cast aside by Steve Cooper.

His days at Forest look numbered though and hopefully, the Reds can get the best deal in January.
