While four Championship sides compete in the play-offs for the final spot in the Premier League, Leicester City can already begin preparations for their return to the top flight.
But what do those preparations entail? Well the first task was to make sure the manager is happy and not going to up sticks midway through the summer. Amid interest from Sevilla, it seems Enzo Maresca is highly likely to stay put.
Then it’s about planning the squad. First of all, there are decisions to be made over six out-of-contract players. Jamie Vardy and Jannik Vestergaard are expected to stay, with Marc Albrighton, Dennis Praet, and Kelechi Iheanacho expected to leave. Wilfred Ndidi’s future remains up in the air.
Then attention can turn to transfers. Loan winger Abdul Fatawu is set to make his switch from Sporting Lisbon permanent, but Maresca would hope to strengthen his squad beyond that. Whether he will be able to amid the financial concerns is another matter.
Because before City can think about buying, they may have to think about selling. They have until the accounts close on June 30 to balance the books and comply with EFL financial rules.
