Nat Phillips hints at Liverpool future following Cardiff and Celtic loan spells

Nat Phillips has discussed his Liverpool future ahead of the summer transfer window following loans spells with Cardiff City and Celtic this season.
A firm fan favourite for his efforts during the 2020/21 season, Phillips has never been anything more than a bit-part player for Liverpool despite being at the club since 2016.
As a result, he has been forced into a number of loan spells in search of first-team football, and he spent the first half of this season with Celtic before sealing a temporary switch to Cardiff in January.
With Phillips now 27 and having only made 29 first-team appearances during his eight years with the club, the ‘Bolton Baresi’ is expected to leave Liverpool in the near future having admitted his future is uncertain in recent weeks.
The centre-back has been strongly linked with exits in the past but injuries to other Liverpool defenders have often denied him the opportunity to find a new permanent home.
But, with his season now over with Cardiff, Phillips has revealed what the plan is ahead of a summer of change at Anfield.
NAT PHILLIPS REVEALS LIVERPOOL ‘PLAN’
Speaking to LFCTV about his future on Merseyside, Phillips stated: “I’ve enjoyed my period of playing regularly [at Cardiff]. Looking to the summer, sometimes you can worry and overthink things too much.
“You can only control what you can control. The plan is to go back in pre-season and just take it from there.”
Phillips made 18 appearances for Cardiff during his five months in Wales but it seems extremely unlikely that he has a future at Anfield, even with a change in management this summer.

Arne Slot is expected to be the man to replace the outgoing Jurgen Klopp this summer and it seems improbable that the current Feyenoord boss will see Phillips as part of his plans.
Phillips, whose contract expires in 2025, has been linked with a move to Leeds United in recent months, although a transfer may hinge on whether or not the Whites achieve promotion back to the Premier League via the play-offs.
There are likely to be a number of clubs interested in a no-nonsense centre-back with good experience at an elite level, but unfortunately Liverpool are unlikely to be one of them.
