New twist in Mason Greenwood saga as Juventus make decision on Manchester United star’s transfer

According to Express, Juventus have retracted their interest in Man United forward Mason Greenwood after weeks of pursuit of the former England international.

According to the report, the plug has been pulled by the Juve hierarchy.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at La Liga club Getafe after United botched an attempt at reintegrating him back into the first team. He finished the season as Getafe’s player of the season.

Juve’s exit leaves the door open for Greenwood’s other suitors, with Lazio and Getafe themselves monitoring his situation closely.

Greenwood’s current United contract, fetching him £50k a week, is set to run out at the end of the 2024/25 season. United are currently looking for a fee in the region of £30 million to let him leave.

Regardless of who remain interested in buying him, United remain in the same situation they have been all summer: let Greenwood go at all costs.

This is a move that needs to happen regardless of how much money United can make from his sale. His exit will take some load off the wage bill anyway, but United need to be ready to lose him for free if it does come to that.
