Newcastle United ready to green light Callum Wilson transfer to West Ham United

Newcastle United are now prepared to cash in on striker Callum Wilson amid interest from West Ham United, according to talkSPORT.

Alex Crook shared via the broadcaster’s website [23 June] that Wilson is also wanted by clubs in Saudi Arabia.

The Magpies are aware that the 32-year-old is set to become a free agent in a year’s time and will consider selling to avoid any PSR issues.

Chronicle Live reported on 22 June that West Ham have already made contact with Newcastle regarding a deal for Wilson.

Callum Wilson could be missing piece for West Ham United

Firstly, the elephant in the room. Wilson is an injury-prone striker and that is exactly what United could do without.

However, if used correctly, the Irons could land themselves a player who has proven over and over what he is capable of in the Premier League.

Indeed, Wilson has scored 47 goals in 95 league appearances for Newcastle – a return that would very much be welcome at London Stadium.

Wilson was hailed as “incredible” by Eddie Howe a little over a year ago, but Alexander Isaak is now first choice for the Magpies.

This deal all depends on the cost. If the Hammers can negotiate a cut-price fee for a player soon to be out of contract, it makes perfect sense.

West Ham United attacker Michail Antonio

Michail Antonio has been West Ham United’s go-to man up top for too long now

If Newcastle play hardball at all, though, or the player indicates he is not up for a move, then it will be a case of looking elsewhere.
