Nottingham Forest have just sold 29-year-old player for £4.3m

Nottingham Forest have now sold Gustavo Scarpa to Atletico Mineiro, according to a reputable journalist.

The Brazilian player has been the subject of interest from Brazilian clubs after an underwhelming spell with Olympiacos.

Now, his European adventure looks set to be nearing an end, with everything done and dusted it would seem.

Scarpa made just 10 appearances for Forest and ultimately,

he couldn’t persuade Steve Cooper to give him a regular run.

Forest have sold Scarpa

According to Konstantinos Lianos on X, the deal for Forest to sell Scarpa to Atletico Mineiro is now a done deal.

The Reds have made a profit on the player they signed for free, with a £4.3 million deal agreed with Forest.

Scarpa didn’t have many great moments at Forest,

with his highlight probably earning praise from Ian Wright on Match of the Day.

The 29-year-old failed to register a single-goal contribution during his time at Forest and he’s done the same with Olympiacos.

Scarpa goes down as horrendous signing

The amount of millions Forest have wasted over the years doesn’t really bear thinking about.

Scarpa, sadly, will go down as one of the worst pieces of business the club has made, given that he was handed a contract worth £30,000-a-week.

The player very rarely looked up to the required standard of the Premier League and heading back to Brazil makes perfect sense for him.

Scarpa won the Golden Ball award when he was at Palmeiras.

As a result, he should be more than capable of shining back in that league.

Forest must tread with caution over these types of signings in the future.

Murillo and Danilo have worked out but they are young and boast bags of potential that remains untapped.

Scarpa was probably beyond his best in hindsight when he signed for Forest and the club have done extremely well to make a profit on him.
