Defender Tariq Lamptey is said to be mulling over his future ahead of the winter transfer window, amid links to Nottingham Forest.
The Brighton and Hove Albion full-back was reportedly on the Reds’ radar in the summer. And there has been some suggestion the club’s interest has been piqued again.
Lamptey will be out of contract at the Amex Stadium at the end of this season and had found himself down the pecking order under Fabian Hurzeler earlier in the campaign. Although he has recently forced his way back into the manager’s plans, there remains a question mark over whether he will stay put on the south coast beyond January.
According to The Mirror, Forest “explored” a loan deal for the 24-year-old in the summer. A move did not materialise because they were “reluctant” to meet the Seagulls’ stipulation to include an obligation to turn the move into a permanent one.
A few months on and Lamptey is said to be “seeking a way out” due to his frustrations over a lack of game time under Hurzeler. Brighton would not stand in his way, if the Ghana international does make it clear he wishes to move on.
GiveMeSport had recently credited the Reds with an interest in the Brighton man ahead of January. However, West Ham United and Everton are said to be leading the chase for him.
Forest could go into the new year with only minimal tweaking to their squad required. A strong summer window has paid dividends on the pitch and Nuno Espirito Santo’s side currently sit fifth in the Premier League table ahead of their return to action after the international break.
