The Indiana Pacers won the second of four games in a row at home. They stole a tight 114-110 victory on Monday, improving to 8-10 in the process. Pacers big man Myles Turner had a handful of crucial plays down the stretch of this one. He ultimately finished the game with 17 points, nine rebounds, one steal, and one block. At the post-game press conference, Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle alluded to the fact that Turner was not 100 percent for this contest. This naturally prompted reporters to follow up with the Pacers’ big after the fact. Turner explained his mentality with regard to playing through that sort of stuff. “It’s our job as players to go out there and play at the end of the day,” Turner told reporters. “I’ve never really been high maintenance and never really been one of the guys that, if I’m feeling a little inconvenienced, I’m gonna sit out. It’s just really not my MO.”
Turner added: “I think for me personally, I make an impact when I’m out there. I’m a huge difference-maker offensively and defensively. I feel like if I would have sat tonight then who knows what would have happened. I know my team’s more than capable carrying themselves, but I would like to think I’m a big factor in our wins and losses.” Related: Which Pacers’ Star Did Rick Carlisle Applaud? Turner will get a night off before the Pacers have two more games at home this week. Both games will be against teams who missed the NBA Playoffs last year. The Pacers will face the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday. They will follow that up with a game against the Detroit Pistons on Friday.
