Pompey skipper Marlon Pack has signed a new two-year contract.

It comes after a dream campaign for the boyhood Blues fan, who skippered the club to the League One title.

He made 39 appearances last term, scoring in valuable victories against Leyton Orient, Shrewsbury and Reading.

Blues boss John Mousinho said: “It was so important for us to get this deal done, with everything that Marlon’s done at this football club since returning a couple of years ago.

“He lifted the League One trophy as captain and produced some strong performances in what was such a successful season for us.

“Marlon is a vital part of what we’re trying to achieve moving forward in the Championship and so we’re delighted that he’s staying at the club.”

Pack is a graduate of the Pompey academy, departing in 2011 and enjoying success with Cheltenham, Bristol City and Cardiff.

The Buckland boy returned to Fratton Park in the summer of 222 and was named captain ahead of last season.

His fine form earned a place in the League One Team of the Season at the EFL Awards, with the midfielder also crowned Pompey’s Player of the Season.

Pack has made a total of 78 appearances in a Blues shirt, netting eight goals, and will now be leading the side into the Championship.
