Plymouth Argyle have secured a deal to sign Aberdeen left-back Jack MacKenzie this summer.
According to Alan Nixon via Patreon, the Pilgrims have agreed to terms with the 25-year-old who is out of contract with the Dons.
The Daily Record reported last month that Plymouth was interested in acquiring MacKenzie’s services and now looks to have gotten the deal over the line.
Plymouth Argyle close in on Jack MacKenzie deal
As Plymouth looks to bolster their ranks ahead of life back in League One, the club has profiled MacKenzie as a necessary addition.
Writing on his Patreon, Nixon explains that Argyle is set to sign the left-sided defender on a free transfer. His deal at Pittodrie expires this summer, and terms have been agreed for a move to Home Park.
MacKenzie made his final appearance for the club in the Scottish Cup Final on Saturday, playing his part in a historic win over Celtic.
The defender’s move to Plymouth will be his first experience of football outside of Scotland, having spent his entire career with Aberdeen coupled with a loan spell at Forfar Athletic.

MacKenzie has been a regular in the Scottish top flight for a good few years now, and he was also called up to the Scotland national team in October. He has been a regular in their squad over the last few seasons and made the left-back position his own at Pittodrie under Jimmy Thelin.
Nixon previously reported back in October that Sheffield United, Stoke City, and Preston North End were all taking an interest in his services, but Argyle looks to have won the battle for his signature.
Plymouth Argyle are getting their summer business done quickly
Miron Muslic impressed after replacing Wayne Rooney at Home Park last season, and there were some concerns in the Argyle fanbase that the Pilgrims were set to lose their manager this summer.
This may still be a possibility, but the fact that the club is getting business done early will be a promising sign for the Plymouth faithful.
The first arrival at the window was Jamie Patterson, who joins at the end of his Coventry City deal. Caleb Watts has also been acquired from Devon rivals Exeter City.
If the Pilgrims can quickly assemble a squad for the third tier, Muslic might have just enough incentive to remain in his position.
