With less than two weeks of the transfer window to go, Liverpool remain the only side in the Premier League not to have welcomed a new signing.
Richard Hughes recently suggested that Liverpool fans could look forward to an exciting end to August, but right now there’s little evidence to support that claim.
Giorgi Mamardashvili is edging closer to joining Liverpool, even if Manchester United have expressed late interest in the goalkeeper.
But Mamardashvili may not play for Liverpool until 2026, such are the club’s plans to send the 23-year-old out on consecutive loans.
An excellent deal and plan for Arne Slot’s team on the face of it, but not one that will help the club’s ambitions immediately.
Of course, following news that Liverpool may not seek a Martin Zubimendi alternative, there’s now thought that Slot’s front line could benefit from an addition before the deadline.
And to that end, TBR Football recently reported that Liverpool are interested in Ademola Lookman, even if they aren’t close to submitting a bid just yet.
PSG agree personal terms with shock Liverpool target Ademola Lookman
Lookman, who is rated at around €60m (£51m) by Atalanta this summer, is keen to leave the club after asking to sit out their opening game of the season.
And whilst Liverpool are interested, journalist Rudy Galetti has just shared news on X confirming that Lookman has now agreed a contract with French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

Galetti said that Atalanta were still awaiting an official offer from PSG for the winger, but it now seems as if the deal is heading in the right direction.
Of course, given that Liverpool’s interest still appears slightly tentative in Lookman, perhaps this is now a deal that will never get off the ground.
Arsenal and Manchester City were both credited with an admiration in the former Premier League winger as well, but at the fees mentioned, any deal does seem pretty rich.
That being said, it’s not all bad news, and Liverpool are still being tipped to sign one attacker before Deadline Day, even if it may be difficult.
It’s a vital week or so for Hughes, Slot and all at Anfield, who could still mount a title-challenge should they bring in the right recruits.
