Rams Make Final Trade Decision on Former All-Pro Cornerback

The Los Angeles Rams have begun to get healthy after suffering a potentially catastrophic run of injuries to start the season, and while that’s good news for the team, it hasn’t been good for veteran cornerback Tre’Davious White. After he started the first four games of the season for the Rams, White has been a healthy scratch for the past three contests, as he got replaced in the starting lineup by Darious Williams after he returned from a hamstring injury.

As a result, trade rumors have begun to swirl around White, who is a former first-team All-Pro from his days with the Buffalo Bills. Sure enough, after the team’s big Week 8 win over the Minnesota Vikings, the Rams gave White permission to seek a trade ahead of the league’s upcoming trade deadline.

White has struggled mightily for Los Angeles when he’s been on the field this season, as he allowed 66.7 percent of passes where he was the closest defender get completed, with opposing quarterbacks posting an absurd passer rating of 138.4 on throws targeting White. Injuries limited White to just 10 total games over the past two seasons, and he’s now missed three more contests this season with the Rams due to his poor play resulting in him being a healthy scratch.

With White struggling and Los Angeles having no snaps to give him, the team opted to let him test the trade market and see if he can find another team who is interested in moving for him before the deadline. White likely is never going to reach the heights he hit earlier in his career, but he could still have something to offer for a cornerback-needy playoff contender. With the Rams open to dealing him, it will be interesting to see if he manages to land with another team over the next couple of weeks.
