Rangers and Penarol may likely have met and held talks over a potential Damian Garcia transfer at the recent TransferRoom summit in Cancun, according to Football Scotland.
The media outlet reported on 5 June that Nils Koppen is doing everything he can to help Philippe Clement with his rebuild in this transfer window.
Penarol president Ignacio Ruglio confirmed that he was at the event in Mexico while it’s understood that Koppen jetted out for it as well.
Things could progress on the Rangers and Damian Garcia transfer front
If Gers and Penarol did indeed meet and both parties were satisfied with the proposals, things could move swiftly in the coming days.
The event in Cancun provided a unique opportunity for the two clubs to discuss a potential transfer for Garcia.
With Koppen, the club’s Director of Recruitment, and the Penarol President, both attending the event, it is highly likely that they had discussions regarding Garcia’s transfer.
Gers are keen on securing the services of the Uruguayan midfielder [Daily Record], who is out of contract at the end of the year.
For Rangers, securing the 20-year-old’s services would be a significant addition to their squad, providing them with a talented young midfielder with a bright future.
In other Rangers news, weeks of negotiations are now on the cards at Ibrox with Gers aiming to strike a multi-million transfer deal to sign an international attacker.
